A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Here are the many pictures from Christmas. As we got slammed with snow on Christmas night our holiday was extended a bit because we couldn't leave. Not the worst way to spend the days off. I am sorry that I somehow missed taking a single picture of Beth and of Katherine, Dave and Ben playing with the kids but we were very happy to see you guys and spend time together on so even though I don't have the pictures it was great to visit.

You really should click on this picture to make it bigger. This guy is CRAZY with the lights and decorations and I don't actually have the entire display here but I got what I could fit in my little camera lens. We stopped by his house on Christmas eve before heading to Grandma and Grandpa's and he had people in costumes giving out candy canes, Christmas carols, a fire burning, free coffee and hot chocolate, and the fire company was on the way with Santa on one of the trucks just as we left.

It's Christmas eve and that means opening a box of new PJ's!

Pheenie's have sock monkeys, and Mama is making a weird face.

Our house is filled with many traditions on the holiday and one of them is coloring a page in the big coloring book each year. Here the kids are looking at one of the books that I did as a kid.

Here we are coloring the new page in a different book.

Even Oscar gets in on the act.

Writing a letter to Santa to go with those delicious cookies made by Seraphina.

Now Christmas morning it is time to open the stockings. Mama is texting. BAD MAMA!

Grandpa is cooking and hungry mouths are hoping for some hand outs.

Seraphina is Santa and Sam is the reindeer

As you can see from her face that is Julie!

Sam opening the drums. Unfortunately you will have to take my word that he is excited because that mop of hair makes it impossible to see his face.

Sam is thanking Grandpa for one of his favorite gifts here. It is a head lamp flashlight and you will see him wearing it a lot in these pictures.

More hugs. Pheenie gave me this beautiful glass egg that she bought all by herself!

The snuggy Pheenie wanted!

Playing hot potato with Sam who is wearing the head lamp

Pheenie loving Grandma after she gave her the key chain alarm that she picked out for her.

Seraphina made a blackberry cordial for Grandpa. She shook the jars every day for two months to make it and sifted the fruit (Daddy helped a little) and bottled it in these pretty jars.

Another tradition. Mama cuts a TON of garlic on Christmas and here Seraphina is intently watching me do it.

Traditions all around! Making meatballs with Grandpa

Playing the holiday charades game, Sam is the ghost of Christmas future

This one must be hard

Planning it out
Somehow this was supposed to be George Bailey?
Playing the "Holiday Music" game

Singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" as part of our game. Daddy's dance in the background is my favorite part of this picture!

The newlyweds Aunt Sue Pooh and Uncle Paul

opening the guitar

Mom showing Sam how to hold his fingers on the guitar.

Jenny, Julie and Pheenie

Sam's first tool belt

Pheenie finally got her snuggie

Wow look at the snow guys it's getting pretty deep. This was Christmas night when the snow started. At first it was just a little bit of snow but it didn't stay that way for long. This is the bottom of the back door. There is a step down to the deck but you can't see it anymore.

Umm it's still snowing. These cans are easily over three feet tall and as you can see they were almost buried. By the next day you couldn't see them at all.

This is my moms RAV 4, my dad's Toyota Tacoma (the largest and only one still visible), our Outlander (you can see the mirror) and Paul's Focus (completely covered) when the snow finally stopped coming down.

Her very own sewing machine!

Pheenie is going to be a nutcracker collector too I think. Here she is checking out the little nutcracker family I got this year.

What is that!!!!!!!!!

Grandma and Grandpa got Pheenie her very own pearl necklace. The ad said it came in an oyster shell and they were thinking cute little plastic case. Not quite. Here Grandpa is digging the pearl out of the dead oyster it arrived in. It is a beautiful pink pearl that goes in a little cage on a chain to make a necklace but as you can see Pheenie and Grandma were pretty grossed out by the retrieval process. (I was too)

Not the most flattering photo but here is the final product

Sammy trying to escape from the camera on New Years Eve

Pheenie not wanting to pose for a picture either, Grandma doesn't care she's just happy to be holding the newest family member.

It's almost time....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! Line up to kiss the baby.

Uncle Jeff hanging out with Vincenzo while he waits for his bottle to warm up, Vincenzo waits not Jeff.

Feeding her cousin for the first time!

Vincenzo is trying to eat Seraphina's fingers, she doesn't seem to mind.

Laughing at silly Grandpa

Feeding the baby again.

Sam showing the baby something but it seems he is more interested in Sam's face. Sammy also fed the baby but at the time I was holding him so there isn't a picture :(

Traditions again. The Luchenta family watches the Twilight Zone marathon every New Year's Eve/Day for as long as I can remember. Here Vincenzo is watching his first one with Grandpa and Sammy.

Aren't you a little short for a storm trooper? Oh it's Sam! Finally the plows showed up and we are back at home. This came from Uncle Jim and Aunt Lori along with a very cool lightsaber.

The crown and wand from Uncle Jim and Aunt Lori. Seraphina LOVES looking like the sugar plum fairy!

Mama gives some money to the piggy that Pheenie got from Aunt Helen. She came with some money and a note to pass her around to get some more ;)

Sam pays up

Hitting up Dad for some money

Sam got a "mess kit" from Aunt Helen and he loves it!

Mama loving Pheenie

Seraphina did her own hair. Any time she poses for a photo it is in some kind of ballet pose.

Pheenie wearing Julie's hat.

The headband so we can see his face again and the stool to go with the drum set.

What a wonderful holiday. That IS a Christmas house! Next year we will have to come and see it for ourselves. I love the look on your moms face when they are trying to get the pearl.
Happy New Year!
