The kids made a lot of great gifts for Dad this holiday and we also got him some commercial gifts too. Bacon salt which is a vegetarian salt that soldiers sprinkle on their food to make it taste like pork, it is recommended by the Army Times and we are hoping that it will get Jeff through the year without pork products. We also got him some Ham jerky to enjoy before he goes and I made him some pork roll (it's a salty pork product native to NJ that he loves) obviously I am not ok with pouring all the pork fat into his body but he won't be allowed to have it once he leaves so might as well let him stock up on it now. The kids got a book called "The Paper Hug" when we first found out that Jeff would be leaving. In it the little boy makes an outline of his outstretched arms for his Dad to take with him on his deployment so when he needs a hug he can wrap it around him. We made ours from cloth so they will last the whole year and it was emotional when they were opened but we are all happy that we were given the idea. Sam's is in the 4th picture and Pheenie's is in the 2nd one. (Jeff has one for them that they will get before he leaves) It's going to be a rough week but we are trying to get a lot of good stuff in before Dad goes and I will try to be good about the pictures too. Love to all!
