If you have never attended a Battle of the Books you should go. It is one very stressful but exciting event. Especially when your 8 year old is team member #1 on team 4. Sam's team worked very hard and they really came through when they needed to. (The teams compete against each other about book knowledge. Example - In what story does a man hunt relentlessly for a white whale? answer - Moby Dick by Herman Melville) It came down to a tie between team 3 and 4 (they each had 60 points) and the winner got the final answer correct with 10 seconds to answer. Regional finals are May 25th and we can't wait to see how our schools team makes out.

The next round happens at the high school on the 25th of May. I will take pictures and hopefully we will be moving on to the state level. If not that is perfectly ok with me. Sam did so well and as you can see the little boy behind him was sobbing at the end. (yes they won but that's a lot of stress at 8 years old)
